Push open the door of an open church, and centuries of history welcome you. The coolness of the stone, the light through the stained glass, the silence that invites you to linger: our churches and chapels are among the finest treasures of our towns and villages. And yet, all too often, their doors remain closed.

The Open Churches network exists to reopen them: so that everyone — believer, curious visitor, walker or traveller — can step inside freely, take the time to look, to understand and to admire, and so that this heritage becomes a living place we love to return to.

Discovering a church, wandering from one village to the next, planning your next visit or registering your own building: it all starts here. And none of it would be possible without those who support the network.

Our association is funded by one third from its members’ contributions, one third from regional and European subsidies, and one third from the generosity of donors like you. Every gift, every bequest extends a little further the welcome offered in these places of meaning — and for that we are deeply grateful.
