The Church of Saint Anne stands at the heart of the hamlet of Sint-Anna, near Hamme. Its history reaches back to 1373, when a chapel dedicated to Saint Anne was consecrated on this site.

For a long time the chapel remained attached to the parish church of Waasmunster, where baptisms and marriages were held. In 1640 the chaplaincy was raised to a provostry, and only in 1834 did Sint-Anna become an independent parish. The medieval building grew steadily: a tower in 1423, a south aisle in 1686, a north aisle in 1698. Between 1875 and 1877 the old church was demolished and replaced, to designs by Beert-Campens, with a new neo-Gothic church; the old fifteenth-century west tower in limestone was preserved.

The three-aisled brick church holds a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Joseph from the eighteenth century. The organ was built in 1753 by Pieter Van Peteghem, set within an older case of 1726.
