As part of the valorisation of the churches of the Saint Damien parish of Erpe-Mere, a brochure with a cycling and walking map will be published. The cycling and walking loops form a red thread through the municipality and show the connection between the former parishes. Besides churches with their curiosities and organ patrimony, also parsonages, chapels and other immovable religious heritage are featured.

The brochure “H. Damiaanparochie Erpe-Mere - Een tocht langs haar religieus Erfgoed” with a cycling and walking map and a children's quiz is offered for €5.

Sint-Martinus

On a rise at Erpe, in the municipality of Erpe-Mere, stands Saint Martin's church, dedicated to Martin of Tours. A building of the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries stood here before; it was largely demolished in 1827.

The architect Johan Beeckman designed a neoclassical hall church, built in 1834. A façade stone on the south side bears the year 1835 and the names of the notables of the time. The present church has three aisles, with a square tower on the west.

Inside, slender columns set the tone: Tuscan columns stand prominently in the central nave, while the rib vaults of the choir close rest on Ionic columns. The church is a protected monument.
