Sint-Stefaan

The old church was rebuilt several times; a drawing of 1687 showed a baroque-style church. In 1898, a large part of the church was demolished. The tower, the choir and part of the transept were preserved.

Jos Caluwaers designed the new church, which incorporated the aforementioned parts of the old church. The new part is in neo-Gothic style. You can admire two beautiful chandeliers in the old church, a work of art designed by the flower boutique team made on an iron frame with magnolia branches and hundreds of crystals from old chandeliers.

The new church possesses some old paintings such as Golgotha (1608) by the Flemish School. There is also a 17th-century Stoning of St Stephen. There is a 13th-century oak statue of Mary found in the castle moat and restored in 1878. Of polychromed wood is a statue of St James from the 2nd half of the 17th century. From around 1700 is a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows and one of St Sebastian. There is also an 18th-century corpus but hanging from a renewed cross. There are also numerous cult objects to admire.
