The caring love of the Aalst Carmelite Sisters was known far beyond Aalst. Unselfishly, always with friendship and warmth, they gave comfort, help, a deeply human contact to so many people, who found their way to the sisters ... In the chapel of the Carmelite nuns there is an exhibition which takes up this red thread of care and continues it. You are cordially invited to the exhibition Moederen... een werkwoord ?! Everyone can do it! VZW Emmaüs turns the chapel into 'A quiet place in the city'.

The Emmaüs association (a local initiative from the city of Aalst) was founded in 2003 and works with a group of 30 volunteers. Under the name “A silent place in the city”, the association is building a wide variety of activities. Since mid-2016, the association has a chapel and a choir hall of the Carmelite nuns at its disposal which are located in the centre of Aalst.
