Rebuilt in 1827/1828, according to the plans of the architect Moreau de Nivelles, the church of St. Peter, under its rather austere exterior, is nonetheless beautiful and welcoming.
The previous chapel dated from the 16th century. Part of the choir of the new church rests on the old Romanesque foundations.

When entering the church for the first time, one's gaze is inevitably drawn to the superb Stations of the Cross painted by Paul Stroobant in 1926.

The neo-classical building contains treasures such as an altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary made of painted wood in imitation of marble, in rococo style, dating from the 18th century, or a large marble stoup with a brass lid bearing the inscription “Dame Lowize de Blaton, Abesse Dewier - 1623”. This was in fact a gift to the parish from the Aywières nuns.

Under the pulpit of truth, made by Henri Peeters-Divoort, you can admire an exceptional statue because of its rarity: a repentant Saint Peter dating from 1853 and seeming to support the whole weight of this pulpit of truth...

We will end our visit to this beautiful building by mentioning the presence of the most beautiful organs in the entity, built by a goldsmith in the field: Mr. Van Peteghem from Ghent, an artist renowned for his talent. The touch of originality is brought by the presence of semi-circular stained glass windows of the most beautiful effect.
