The Church of Saint Amandus stands at the heart of the village of Heurne, near Oudenaarde, and bears witness to the resilience of a community after the trials of war. The original church, dating from the late eighteenth century, was destroyed in 1918 during the Battle of the Scheldt.

In its present neo-Gothic form the building dates only from 1922. It preserves an organ by the Daem firm, made around 1930 and rebuilt by Delmotte in 1970 and again in 1978, remaining a living place of prayer and remembrance.
