Saint-Servais

On a mound surrounded by the high limestone walls of the cemetery, once fortified by corner towers probably dating from the end of the 16th century, the church of Saint-Servais de Gimnée is an interesting classical limestone rubble building dating from 1770, related to the works of the architect J.B. Chermanne, whose orientation has been reversed: at its chevet it has retained the tower of the previous church, which was rebuilt around 1720-1722. The bell tower is topped by a slate spire, tapering and bulbous in a wisely Baroque style, and is adorned with a wrought-iron clock dated 1784.
