In the village of Bottelare, part of Merelbeke, the Church of Saint Anne is dedicated to the mother of the Virgin. It grew from a living devotion: when the local Saint Anne's chapel could no longer hold the many pilgrims, this larger baroque church was raised between 1641 and 1663, in brick and Balegem stone.

The upper part of the tower, with its clock and bell chamber, was added in 1873 to the design of the architect Théophile Bureau. Above the doorway stands a statue of Saint Anne, between two scrolls, in a niche adorned with a shell motif. Around the church, moreover, runs a Saint Anne procession, celebrated each year on 26 July with its chapels.

Within, the seventeenth-century baroque interior has been preserved, with a high altar and an antependium in honour of Saint Anne, a fifteenth-century Gothic holy water font and an organ by Pieter Van Peteghem. The church also inspired painters: both Gustave and Léon De Smet set it down on canvas. It is a protected heritage site.
