Harzé church, dedicated to Saint-Jacques, was inaugurated in 1878. Built of local stone, it dominates the ‘Fond de la Ville’ and is inspired by the Romanesque style of the old temple built at the heart of the Château de Harzé, but on a much larger scale: high western tower, nave of four bays with aisles, wide transept and semi-circular apse, according to a traditional plan attributed to the Liège architect Henri Plénus.

It is also dedicated to Notre-Dame.

Construction began in 1876, following a decision by the Fabrique d'église to demolish the old castral chapel. This decision was approved by the Local Council at its meeting of 20 April 1875, which placed on the agenda the project to build a new church at a time when the population, which was very religious, was growing by the day.

The new building inherited a number of relics from the former sanctuary of the castle, a superb large walnut crucifix, a stone baptismal font, the old baptismal font which served as a model for the two new fonts, a silver monstrance, a chalice bearing the arms of the Count of Eynatten and Lynden, a painting depicting the Good Shepherd, a very old wooden statue of Saint James (since stolen and replaced by a new one) and a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary. Jacques (since stolen and replaced in 1996 by a beautifully crafted sculpture by M. Naveau), the large bell and an even older bell donated by Count Ernest de Suys, which became the small bell of the present church.

The church was repainted in 2001, and on this occasion a magnificent fresco was discovered in the choir (under the old fresco on canvas depicting the Last Supper) dating from the building period and depicting 3 passages from the Gospel: the visitation of Mary and Elizabeth, the presentation of Jesus in the temple and the meeting of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well.
