In 2023-2024, the church of Saint-Nicholas in Amfroipret will be closed for renovation: the roof and ceiling will be refurbished, and the furnishings will be moved to be cleaned or restored, thanks to the intervention of the State for the objects protected as Historic Monuments. For others, such as the 19th-century Stations of the Cross, a fund-raising campaign has been launched with the Fondation du Patrimoine. In June 2024, the church will once again be open to the public, who will be looking for a place to rest after a walk in the Mormal Forest or the local Jardins Partagés (shared gardens).

This church, rebuilt between 1860 and 1862 by the parishes of Amfroipret and Bermeries, was designed by the architect Jules Fiévet. Its facade is typical of churches in the area and of the period: sandstone base, bricks, slates, facade decoration in imitation of Lombard bands, 3-vessel building. Inside, the central nave is divided into 4 bays separated by large arcades resting on Marbaix stone columns and leading to the aisles.

The church contains a tombstone, testimony to the presence of the de Haynin family (bailiffs of Hainaut), who owned the castle, of which only ruins remain from the 18th century.
