Free visit to St Remy’s Church, the birthplace of the Open Churches initiative
Come and take a break at Saint-Remy Church, the very first building to join the Open Churches network in Belgium. Flowers and background music create an atmosphere perfect for contemplation. With the help of an information sheet, you can discover the heritage of our church, situated in the heart of one of Wallonia’s Most Beautiful Villages. Not to be missed: during the Open Churches weekend, you can visit over 40 gardens open to the public in the neighbouring villages of Gobertange and Mélin!

Saint Remy
With beautiful farms and village houses close by, old cobbled streets, surrounded by an ancient graveyard and a dominant view over the countryside, this charming church in white Gobertange stone sitting above this superb village on the side of a hill feels like a corner of Burgundy.
Inside, in the chancel hangs a painting of the baptism of Clovis by Saint Remy. The whitewashed walls give the church a feeling of tranquillity and contemplation. Also worth seeing are the works of Gabriel Taeymans: a dozen ceramics depicting the Passion of Christ. It’s a visual path without flourishes or anguish which portrays the essential with intensity.
