The Church of Saint Martin, on Europalaan, is the parish church of Dilsen. It replaced an older church, whose Old Tower still stands in the hamlet of Oud-Dilsen: as the population grew and settled mainly west of the main road, the new church was built there.
This neo-Gothic building was raised between 1908 and 1912 to the design of Hyacinth Martens and Vincent Lenertz. It is a three-aisled brick cruciform basilica; the four-stage tower, braced by angled buttresses, is crowned with a needle spire flanked by four small corner spires, all covered with slate.
Within, the church preserves a precious inheritance from earlier times: a Gothic statue of Our Lady with the Child for which the year 1380 is given, a sixteenth-century statue of Saint Martin and the beggar, oak statues of the apostles from the seventeenth century, and confessionals of about 1700. The tower clock, made in Liège in 1627, comes from the old church. The building is listed in the inventory of architectural heritage.
