At the centre of Oplinter, a village near Tienen in Flemish Brabant, stands the Gothic church of Saint Geneviève. The core of the building goes back to around the year 1200. The square tower, described by the sources as late Romanesque, transitional or early Gothic, is dated to around 1200 or 1250.

The nave and choir were built in Gothic style in the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries; the construction of this hall church is attributed to the master builder Franco de Lintris. In the following century a transept and two side portals were added, and in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries two tall chapels flanking the choir. The tower was rebuilt in the sixteenth century and given a spire in 1720.

After the fires of 1506, 1597 and 1676, the vault of the central nave collapsed and was replaced by a rococo ceiling with scenes from the life of Saint Geneviève. The church was restored several times, notably by August Van Assche in 1878 and by Raymond Lemaire in 1931-1936. It has been protected as a monument since 1937.
