Saint Remy

This newly built church was inaugurated in 1996. It replaced one that was built in 1850 and collapsed in 1986.

Elements from previous churches (a Romanesque one of the 11th century and a 19th century Neo-Classic one) have been preserved and included in the modern church thus demonstrating the continuous link with the parish community : oak statues of Saints Peter and Paul; a confessional; tablets from the old pulpit integrated into the altar pedestal; the “fermes” or chests of the church wardens; the tombstone of a previous parish priest dated 1681; the altar designs; the mechanical organs of 1857 from the workshop of Merklin; baptismal fonts of 1579; the altarpiece of the infant Jesus on an old altar from 1648; a very fine 16th century crucifix, restored recently by IRPA, adorns the choir framed by two rows of stalls.

There is a small museum in the annexe which houses a collection of about a hundred pieces of the patrimony of the parish, notably church vestments; a solar- monstrance (1706); a missal by Plantin (Antwerp 1620); an altar stone from the church of 1181; a pivoting tabernacle (19th century); statues of Saint Sebastian and Saint Francis of Salles and numerous religious objects.
