For centuries, the chapel has been the centre of the small Ardennes village of Biwisch. It is already mentioned before the year 925, linked to the former parishes of Asselborn and Basbellain. In 1731, it was demolished and rebuilt, then renovated and refurbished in 1860. It has no tower, but a typical ridge turret with a bell.
Since the arrival of the railway in Troisvierges in the 19th century, the village has grown considerably. Today, Biwisch is part of the parish of Troisvierges.
