At the end of the 19th century, there was no longer a church in Ruminghem after the French Revolution, which sold the building for its materials. At the same time, Louis-Joseph Bomart was at the head of the commune and set about rebuilding a new church. First, in 1791, a crenellated bell tower with a bracketed spire was built by Etienne Vigneux, a mason from Bourbourg. Then, in 1806, the nave and choir were inaugurated, providing a new place of worship for the inhabitants. Its Romanesque architectural style is reminiscent of the town's earlier churches, the first of which dates back to the 12th century.

To visit Ruminghem is to discover a local heritage with beautiful farmhouses, a chapel (see details below), traces of contemporary history (launch base), all set in a territory, that of the wateringues and chicory!
